Coptic Christian Priest Killed In Egypt Setting Off New Protests By Religious Minority

Nothing’s changed for Christians in Egypt. Just two weeks after Hosni Mubarak was overthrown by massive protests, innocent Coptic Christians are still being attacked and killed in Egypt by muslims just because they are Christian; the latest being a Coptic Christian Priest who was killed in southern Egypt, triggering street demonstrations by several thousand Christians.

The Winnipeg Free Press reports that the priest was found dead in his home. A fellow clergyman, Danoub Thabet, says his body had several stab wounds. He says neighbours reported seeing several masked men leaving the apartment and shouting "Allahu akbar," or "God is great," suggesting the killing was motivated by the divide between Egypt's Muslims and its minority Coptic community.

Let us be mindful that when one brother or sister of the body of Christ suffers, all of the members suffer with it. I Corinthians 12:26. Likewise, let us all be of the same mind and united in spirit, and pray for our brothers and sisters who are being severely persecuted for the Gospel message and the name of Jesus, and look for ways to do whatever we can to help them.
