Friends, we need to watch the Russia-Georgia war that is taking place now very closely, as this may be setting the final stage and preparation for the hook in the jaw that sets off Ezekiel's War as prophesied in Ezekiel Chapter 38. I have written a full study
here concerning my thoughts on Ezekiel's prophecy, and a short excerpt follows as it concerns this present Russia-Georgia war, and who these players are in Ezekiel's War, which is significant in my opinion,and bears close watching:
"Son on man, set thy face against GOG, the land of Magog, the chief prince of Me-shech and Tubal, and prophecy against HIM." vs. 2
And I will turn thee back, and
put hooks into thy jaw, and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed with all sorts of armour, even a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords: vs. 4
And thou shalt come from thy place out of the north parts, thou, and many people with thee, all of them riding upon horses, a great company, and a mighty army: 15
And thou shalt come up against my people Israel,
as a cloud to cover the land; it shall be in the latter days and I will bring thee against my land, that the heathen may know me, when I shall be sanctified in thee, O Gog, before their eyes. 16
Who Is Gog?
GOG is the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal. He is a person and not a reference to a country as many have mistakenly referred to as GOG as Russia; but as you can see, Ezekiel calls GOG "the chief prince", or a powerful ruler; however, this is not to say that Gog does not come from this area to the north of Israel, which certainly is the land of Russia today;
however, Turkey is directly north of Israel looking at the map above, and so is Syria and I am inclined, after looking at an ancient Bible atlas, to believe the area of Meshech and Tubal are in the area of modern day Turkey, and some portions of northern Syria and Iraq.
If you look at the ancient Persian Empire atlas above, the area of Cappadocia today is Turkey, and in biblical times would be considered the King of the North, as is Syria and Iraq,
and is predominately a muslim country, and according to God's prophet Ezekiel, Ezekiel's war mainly consists of a muslim confederacy of nations going against Israel, led by Gog. In fact, Ezekiel calls Gog the chief prince of Me-shech and Tubal and infers he is from the land of Magog, which is in the region of Turkey, Syria and Iraq today, or the northern parts, in my opinion, and muslim nations, of which two have been trying to destroy Israel since Israel's rebirth as an independent nation in 1948.
What Is Mesheck? Ezekiel 38:2
From Strong's concordance = drawing out Son of Japheth, grandson of Noah and progenitor of peoples to the north of Israel;
; descendants of Mesech often mentioned in connection with
Tubal,
Magog and other northern nations including the Moschi, a people on the borders of Colchis and Armenia. Moschi was a people inhabiting the Moschian Mountains between the Black and Caspian Seas.
The region of Mesheck is now considered the country of Georgia which is located in the southern tip of Russia and is predominantly orthodox Christian according to the CIA World Fact Book,
and became independant from the Soviet Union in 1991. It sets on the northwest corner of Armenia and the northeast corner of
Turkey, which is predominantly muslim.

Fast forward to today's events, headlines from the
DailyMail out of the UK read
"The Pipeline War: Russian Bear Goes For West's Jugular."
The
war in Georgia escalated dangerously last night after Russian jets reportedly bombed a vital pipeline that supplies oil to the West.
After a day of heightening international tensions, Georgian leaders claimed that the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline, which transports oil from the Caspian Sea to Turkey, had been attacked. But it is thought the bombs missed their target.
Their claims came after Russian jets struck deep into the territory of its tiny neighbour, killing civilians and ‘completely devastating’ the strategic Black Sea port of Poti, a staging post for oil and other energy supplies.
Reports last night also said that Russia had bombed the international airport in Tbilisi.
Georgian economic development minister Ekaterina Sharashidzne said: ‘This clearly shows that Russia has targeted not just Georgian economic outlets but international economic outlets as well.’
The pipeline is 30 per cent owned by BP and supplies 1 per cent of the world’s oil needs, pumping up to a million barrels of crude per day to Turkey

Considering the close ties Russia has with Iran and Syria, both of whom are hostile enemies of the Jewish State, Iran's refusal to cooperate with the world's united appeal to halt its nuclear program and Iranian President Ahmadinejad's threat to wipe Israel off the map, this could escalate very rapidly into a full blown Middle Eastern War and a world war with Russia- and Georgia involvement, when Israel takes out Iran's nukes.
In order to move her troops to Israel for a future invasion, Russia needs to have control of Georgia and this is why this war between the two is so significant to the fulfilling of the prophetic event of Gog-Magog War IF or when Russia and or Georgia is militarily involved in this war.
This also could be a show of force on the part of the Russians in an attempt to halt an Israeli and or an American attack on Iran's nuclear facilities. Stay tuned, keep watch and pray always.
