Massive 8.9 Earthquake Strikes Japan Triggering Tsunami-With Videos

A massive 8.9 earthquake, now upgraded to a 9.1 magnitude quake,  struck Japan triggering a ferocious tsunami on Japan's eastern coast Friday, sweeping away everything in its way, including cars, boats and homes while widespread fires burned out of control. The location of the massive earthquake is near the east coast of Honshu, Japan and approximately 231 miles northeast of Tokyo.

David Applegate, a senior science adviser for earthquake and geologic hazards for the U.S. Geological Survey, said the 8.9 magnitude earthquake ruptured a patch of the earth's crust 150 miles long and 50 miles across.

Jesus said just before His coming again, "there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring."

Police said 200 to 300 bodies were found in the northeastern coastal city of Sendai. Another 88 were confirmed killed and 349 were missing. The death toll was likely to continue climbing given the scale of the disaster.

The magnitude 8.9 offshore quake unleashed a 23-foot (7-meter) tsunami and was followed by more than 50 aftershocks for hours, many of them of more than magnitude 6.0.

Dozens of cities and villages along a 1,300-mile (2,100-kilometer) stretch of coastline were shaken by violent tremors that reached as far away as Tokyo, hundreds of miles (kilometers) from the epicenter.

Hours later, the tsunami hit Hawaii and warnings blanketed the Pacific, as far away as South America, Canada, Alaska and the entire U.S. West Coast.

"For thus saith the LORD of hosts; Yet once, it is a little
while, and I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the
sea, and the dry land; And I will shake all nations, and the
desire of all nations shall come: and I will fill this house
with glory, saith the LORD of hosts."

Friday's 8.9 magnitude earthquake, one of the largest earthquake's ever recorded, is the fifth largest recorded by the United States Geological Survey since 1900.

The U.S.G.S. has a list of the fifteen biggest on its Web site, including:
1. 1960 -- 9.5 -- Chile
2. 1964 -- 9.2 -- Prince William Sound, Alaska
3. 2004 -- 9.1 -- Sumatra
4. 1952 -- 9.0 -- Kamchatka, Russia
5. 2011 -- 8.9 -- Friday in Japan
6. 2010 -- 8.8 -- Offshore Maule, Chile

Japan Earthquake is Fifth Largest Since 1900

We at FilesFromToni pray for the people of Japan caught up in this unimaginable disaster, seeking the Lord's mercy, in Jesus name.
