Messianic Prophecies and Jesus Christ

Did you ever stop and think about the hundreds of prophecies that literally predicted the coming of the Messiah Jesus, starting in Genesis that were literally fulfilled by Him? It simply amazes me that how hundreds of prophecies written over a time span of a thousand years before Christ, in the Old Testament, by several Hebrew inspired authors or prophets of God, in the same amount of books, could put a Book called the Bible together so perfectly that it fits like a glove in the New Testament. It really boggles my mind. Only God could do that.

God, being all knowing, knew beforehand that man would be deceived by the serpent, and had a plan way back in the Garden of Eden to save the human race which He had created because he loves His creation. God told the serpent in Genesis 3:15

  • And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shalt bruise his heel.
And that God did. God's prophet Isaiah, inspired by the Holy Spirit, foretold of the Messiah Jesus Christ, who would bruise the serpent's heel to reconcile God's human creation back to Him. Isaiah writes in Isaiah 7:14 of the birth of the Messiah, which could only have been fulfilled miraculously in Jesus as told in the New Testament in Matthew's Gospel 1:18,20.
  • Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel, meaning God is with us. Isaiah 7:14
Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.18. But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying Joseph, thou son of David, fear not; for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. 20

There are literally scores of Messianic prophecies foretelling the coming of Jesus that he literally fulfilled. Take for instance the fact He would be a descendant of Abraham as the Hebrew prophet Moses wrote in Genesis 12 and Chapter 22, and fulfilled by Jesus as shown in Matthew's Gospel Chapter 2, and Galatians 3:16. Or that the Messiah would be of the tribe of Judah, also written by Moses in Genesis 49:10 and fulfilled in Jesus in Luke's Gospel Chapter 3.

2 Samuel Chapter 7 predicts that the Messiah would be of the house of David and this is confirmed and fulfilled in Jesus Christ in Matthew's Gospel Chapter 1, and a minor prophet Micah writes that the Messiah would be born in Bethlehem in Chapter 5, which was literally fulfilled in Jesus as written in Matthew's Gospel Chapter 2 and Luke's Gospel Chapter 2.

Of His miracles the prophet Isaiah again predicts them in Chapter 35, which Jesus the Messiah fulfilled in Matthew's Gospel Chapter 9; and that He would preach good news foretold by Isaiah in Chapter 61 and confirmed in Jesus in Luke's Gospel Chapter 4. Isaiah even pinpoints that Jesus would minister in the Galilee in Chapter 9, which Jesus did as Matthew's Gospel tells us in Chapter 4.

Another minor Hebrew prophet of God, Zechariah, even predicted Jesus famous ride into Jerusalem on a donkey as king in Chapter 9. Matthew records this, too in Chapter 21, and the Psalms even predicted the rejection of the Messiah in 118.

God has written a beautiful love letter of salvation by His grace to anyone who wants to read it and accept it. The Messianic story of Jesus Christ doesn't end here. He died a horrible humiliating death on the cross to atone for the sins of the human race by his own blood, and then rose again from the dead on the third day, and defeated death all predicted and fulfilled by him. Some day you too will die and spend eternity somewhere.
The Bible says in Romans 6:23, written by the Apostle Paul "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord," and in Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God". "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned" Romans 5:12.
Those who have turned their lives over to Jesus Christ and have repented of their sins and are trusting in Jesus to save them will never die, as the Bible and Christianity tells us, but are given eternal life. No other religion can do that except Christianity through Jesus Christ, God's only Son. This gift is free for everyone from our heavenly Father. But time is getting short and soon the door to God's grace will be shut, and severe judgment will fall upon this world because of wickedness and evil, as in the days of Noe and Lot. Have you turned your life over to Jesus Christ while the door remains open yet for awhile longer?
