Biblical discernment is a wonderful gift to have. But we must be careful not to confuse discernment with gossip.
A great lesson, Watchman or Gossip, has been posted at Herescope's blog, which reminds me of the strawman's argument I discovered going around the blogsphere concerning Christianity in general and our Chistian brother RayComfort by Apprising Ministries and Slice of Laodicea, crying wolf when no wolf was present. Friends, we must be extra cautious not to slander other brothers and sisters in Christ,( or anyone for that matter) cause, discord among the brethren, partake in gossip, or attempt to discredit their ministries, or interfer with what the Lord is doing through them, which is what I see happening here.
Some of these same sites that label themselves "discerning" ministries actually had debates over this, in an attempt to what I see as justifying their erroneous actions and which only serves to remind me of the fact that even the pharisee's tried to tell Jesus what to do, which appears to be the case with Ray Comfort and these sites; in most cases all linked to one another.
Some people unwittingling, and wittingly, in an effort to promote their own blogs and websites, and self, which is of the flesh and not of God, will do this type of thing and we must be very careful not to take part in it. It sure looks as if a witchhunt took place here as the latest gossip from Slice of Laodicea concerning Brother Comfort takes on a soap opera effect to keep the viewers tuned in, in an apparent attempt to support the strawman's argument against Ray Comfort. This is a perfect example of what I am talking about, and thus my only reason for putting it up here, as there are biblical truths and lessons to be learned from all of this.
Proverbs 6:16 reads: These six things doth the Lord hate; yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
1. A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood.
2. An heart that deviseth wicked imagination, feet that be swift in running to mischief.
3. A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.
The Bible addresses gossip in many places and the Apostle Paul, in writing to the church at Corinth also addresses it:
2 Corinthians 12:20 For I fear, lest when I come, I shall not find you such as I would, and that I shall be found unto you such as ye would not: lest ther be debates, envyings, wraths, strifes, backbitings, whisperings, swellings, tumults
1 Timothy 5:13 And withal they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house; andnot only idle, but tattlers also and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not.
For some, taming the tongue is one of the hardest things to do.

I totally agree. I think that while the two sites mentioned have some valid concerns much of the time, they often tend to go above and beyond the call of duty.

ReplyDeleteIngrid:
ReplyDeleteSince your message does not really address the issue in my post, and you are justifying your actions, and using more gossip to get your point across, I will not post your message. The fact is, God's mercy and salvation is for everyone, not just those U think deserve HIM. If only those that deserved His love got it, we'd all be headed for hell. Like Jonah, you never really have grasped this message. Jonah continued to whine about his own condition, but had no pity or mercy for the Ninevites. God told Jonah Nineveh had nore than 120,000 people living in spiritual darkness, and asked "should't I feel sorry for such a great city?" Jonah 4:11. God can work through people like Ray Comfort without your or AM outside interference, which you will have to answer for, inspite of ourselves. If God was able to use Jonah to deliver a message inspite of Jonah's unwillingness, (in this case inspite of your unwillingness to see what God is and was willing to do through Ray Comfort, because of your prejudice against lost sinners known as WOF), he is still able to use anyone who is willing and obedient to deliver His message of mercy and salvation through Jesus Christ.
To Ingrid: Your threats don't scare or intimidate me. I have the sword of the Spirit to defend me.

There is no gossip here in what I have posted, only truth and scripture. Apparently, you missed both, and this:
"This is a perfect example of what I am talking about, and thus my only reason for putting it up here, "as there are biblical truths and lessons to be learned from all of this."
