Now officials hope Babylon can be revived and made ready for a rich future of tourism, with help from experts at the World Monuments Fund (WMF) and the U.S. embassy.
"The Future of Babylon" project launched last month seeks to "map the current conditions of Babylon and develop a master plan for its conservation, study and tourism," the WMF says. Story continues here.
The birth pains are increasing at a very steady and persistent rate as we see the prophetic fulfilling of the rebuilding of Babylon taking place before us, only to be completely destroyed just before the return of Jesus Christ. Babylon was the location where all false religions originated and is located in southern Iraq.
According to Zechariah 5:7-11, Babylon, which is located on the plains of Shinar in Iraq will once again become a great city for a very short time before its complete and final destruction. Before its destruction,however , the anti-christ will use Babylon as his worldwide power base from which to launch his political and economic system, which is in the making right now.
