Cross of Jesus Takes Center Stage At Renovated Billy Graham Library With 15X31 Foot Mural By Artist Thomas Kinkade

The renovated Billy Graham Library was dedicated at a special ceremony April 20, 2010 where the Cross of Jesus took center stage, which featured a beautiful 15-by-31 foot mural created by artist Thomas Kinkade called The Cross. You can see the live presentation with the unveiling of this beautiful mural, “The Cross” with lots of pictures and America’s pastor, Billy Graham at The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association Site.

What came to mind when I first read about and saw the mural "The Cross", is one of my favorite hymns "Jesus Keep Me Near The Cross."

Jesus keep me near the cross
There a precious fountain
Free to all, a healing stream
Flows from Calvary's mountain.

In the cross, in the cross,
Be my glory ever;
Till my raptured soul shall find
Rest beyond the river.

Near the cross, a trembling soul,
Love and mercy found me;
There the bright and morning star
Sheds its beams around me.

In the cross, in the cross,
Be my glory ever;
Till my raptured soul shall find
Rest beyond the river.

Near the cross! O Lamb of God,
Bring its scenes before me;
Help me walk from day to day,
With its shadows o'er me.

In the cross, in the cross,
Be my glory ever;
Till my raptured soul shall find
Rest beyond the river.

Near the cross I'll watch and wait
Hoping, trusting ever,
Till I reach the golden strand,
Just beyond the river.

In the cross, in the cross,
Be my glory ever;
Till my raptured soul shall find
Rest beyond the river.

  1. Glad to see someone appreciates Fanny Crosby's lovely gospel song. (Just visited the blog of a man who put it down.) The song reminds us that no matter how far we have come in our spiritual pilgrimage, we always need to walk in the shadow of the cross (I Cor. 2:2; Gal. 6:14).

    If you enjoy reading about our hymns and their authors, I invite you to check out my daily blog on the subject, Wordwise Hymns.

  2. Thanks so much Robert. Your blog is a real blessing to me. Thank you for introducing me to it.

    Where would we be without the Cross?

    In agape love,
    Toni
