Plague In Syria’s Military

Is God now sending warnings to and or  judging Syria before the prophecy of Isaiah 17:1 concerning the destruction of Damascus takes place?   This is very bad news for one of Israel’s primary enemies in the Middle East  and a sponsor of major terror groups who are out to destroy Israel, and persecutes our brothers and sisters in Christ.   It is being reported from the International Society For Infectious Disease that there is a “plague” in Syria’s military and large numbers are being infected, reminiscent of the Middle Ages,  and could cause extensive damage to the Syrian Army in the coming weeks..

 This reminds me of Exodus 8 when the Lord told Moses to go to pharaoh and tell him to let my people go or the Lord would smite them with frogs, lice and flies, and if you go against God and His Word, bad things will happen to you-like mysterious plagues.  God has promised in His Word that Israel will not be completely destroyed, but Damascus will.

According to the Syrian opposition in exile, the Syrian president, who is visiting Latin America, has ordered the shutdown of all Syrian military exercises due to a plague that currently affects a large number of military, especially conscripts doing their training. Drinking water and food in the bases and the current heat wave are the cause of the epidemic.

Syria is currently facing the worst drought in 40 years. Hundreds of thousands of people are experiencing food shortages; peasants have been decimated, and many people are fleeing the country. Already, nearly 60 000 small livestock owners have lost all their animals, and 50 000 others have lost 50-60 percent of their cattle. Story continues

Syrian Opposition Website: Military Training Halted Due To Epidemic

A Syrian opposition website reports that Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad mid-month ordered a halt to training in military units following widespread digestive disorders among the troops, particularly among new recruits.

Military sources rejected claims that foreign intelligence forces were involved in the outbreak of the epidemic.

One soldier reported on harsh conditions in military courses – including only one shower allowed every two weeks, an allocation of half a liter of water per day, and minimal food.

The website reported that th Syrian military numbers 600,000 troops and that its budget is 35% of the country's budget, which is about $6 billion excluding arms deals.
