Saudis Intolerant Interfaith Gathering Concludes at UN

I've been hearing quite a bit about the Saudis leading a religious interfaith gathering the past few days at the U.N. and I thought it quite ironic, given the present history of the repressive religious regime the Saudis are famous for.

Let us remember to keep our brothers and sisters in Christ living under this repressive regime in prayer, and also to pray for the lost muslims within this regime and its leaders. I have read many wonderful uplifting accounts of muslims converting to Christ in the Middle East in massive numbers as God's Holy Spirit is moving upon souls and prayers of the faithful are being answered. Here's the scoop from a few sources on the Saudis and their interfaith gathering agenda. Everything now is going "global." Revelation 13 comes to mind here.
News From Jerusalem

  • The interfaith dialogue at the UN was initiated by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It’s paradoxical that Saudi Arabia doesn’t allow for freedom of religion in its country. Christians are not allowed to build their own churches in Saudi Arabia nor can they share their faith with non-Christians. Saudi Arabia is notorious for exporting an intolerant and radical form of Islam called wahabbism to the rest of the world. More
The country's lack of religious freedom betrays its lofty rhetoric. The real aim of its 'dialogue' is to promote a global blasphemy law.

Saudi King Abdullah, who initiated this week's special session, is quietly enlisting the leaders' support for a global law to punish blasphemy-a campaign championed by the 56-member Organization of Islamic Conference that puts the rights of religions ahead of individual liberties.

If the campaign succeeds, states that presume to speak in the name of religion will be able to crush religious freedom not only in their own country, but abroad.

Another stark irony hangs over the UN special session this week. Saudi Arabia is one of the world's worst abusers of religious freedom..

  1. Yeah, I thought that was pretty ironic as well. Hadn't heard of the "global blasphemy law" thing, though. I like your new blog background! I'm so dissatisfied with mine, but don't have the time/creativity to do anything about it.
